Is an education necessary to getting a job in the web development field? No. Having an education in the web development field is great but with the internet and all its materials it’s fairly easy to learn on your own and get the knowledge you would from school.
Having a degree with no prior experience is very helpful for someone looking for an entry level position. Someone with an associates web development degree would look better on a job resume as opposed to someone that just learned from online material. However there are many great online courses where you can achieve certificates that demonstrate your understanding and knowledge.
